NASAexplores is an education initiative from NASA. NASAexplores is managed and operated by the Marshall Space Flight Center Education Programs Department on behalf of NASA's Aerospace Technology, Space Flight, and Biological and Physical Research enterprises.

  • NASA's Aerospace Technology Enterprise recognizes that its national leadership role in Aerospace research offers unique opportunities to support education outreach activities. It is firmly committed to supporting the NASA Implementation Plan for Education, with its emphasis on contributing to educational excellence, developing alliances with key external constituencies, and involving the educational community at all levels in its projects and programs.

  • The goal of the Space Flight Enterprise is to open the space frontier by exploring, using, and enabling the development of space. The Enterprise wants to increase human knowledge of nature's processes using the space environment, to explore the solar system, to achieve routine space travel, and to enrich life on Earth through people living and working in space.

  • The goal of the Biological and Physical Research Enterprise is to conduct interdisciplinary, peer reviewed, fundamental, and applied research to address the opportunities and challenges to NASA that are provided by the space environment and the human exploration of space.

  • The mission of the NASAexplores initiative is to generate interest in and understanding of NASA's research and technology within the three enterprises, and to inspire the educational community by using the Internet to provide timely, quality standards-based educational materials.

Each week two new articles are published about a current NASA Aerospace Technology or Space Flight topic. And, now, Biological and Physical Research topics will also be available on NASAexplores periodically.

NASAexplores educators adapt the articles for three grade levels: K-4, 5-8, and 9-12. Lesson plans/activities support the concepts raised by the articles. These materials incorporate and support national educational standards in math, science, geography, and technology. Additionally, topics align with standard subject areas, such as chemistry, biology, algebra, etc.
